2015 was a good year with contacts made with other cycling groups, primarily Longstanton and Histon and Impington. We enjoyed another excellent trip to France and once again need to thank to Liz (in absentia) and Les (omnipresent) for their hospitality in Les Houches. The Gran Fondo was a great success with the club well represented and sporting its new livery, and with Robin and Dom posting impressive times to qualify for Denmark in their age categories. We were again well represented on the Dunwich Dynamo, this time by Les, Ken, Robin, Kev, David and Paul. Driving up and leaving the van worked well. Bacon, eggs etc. and a stove will be taken next time. The Hunstanton ride was another great occasion, with thanks to Nigel for his map and meticulous preparation. Unfortunately the fates were against us and we failed to all meet up at the final destination, but that is something unlikely to happen again.
Little in the way of change discussed, but later Sunday starts occasionally would be welcomed by some. Default time is 9 a.m. at the Porterhouse, 9.10 at the Guided Busway in Longstanton. Usual weekday rides remain: Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the same two standard meeting points each time: 7.30 at the Porterhouse, 7.40 at the Guided Busway in Longstanton. The Tuesday ride is a 25 to 30 miles round trip. The more leisurely Thursday ride (approx. 20 miles round trip) includes a visit to a pub or beer festival. We apparently have been to more than 50 pubs in the area over the last six years or so. We also regularly visit the Cambridge (summer and winter), Histon and St. Ives Beer Festivals,
Paul to look into booking CRC catering department for Christmas do and possibly an article in the Willingham News.
See below for events. Each member is asked to be proactive on the planning side so that we have a few ideas flowing in week by week. We look forward in particular to the Willingham Wheels Somerset Cider Bonanza Relay in June!
