I’m sure many of you will have heard of the Couch to 5km training plan? The idea is to transform you from ‘couch potato’ to ‘runner’, getting you running three miles (or 5k) on a regular basis in just two months…

British Cycling have come up with a similar idea to encourage you to dig your bike out of the shed and get riding! It is ideal for the complete cycling novice who is looking to start cycling for health, fitness, recreation, commuting or perhaps to tackle a challenge or charity ride up to 50km (30 miles) long.

After the success of last year’s programme, Willingham Wheels (willinghamwheels.com) are running it again and we will be starting the 8-week training plan on Tuesday 9th April. Rides will usually be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. Time commitment ranges from a minimum of 1 hour 30 minutes to a maximum of 6 hours 30 minutes per week.

Under 16’s are most welcome but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

As an added incentive this year, we will also be running a couple of extra weeks to take our 50km graduates up to 50 miles just in time to take part in the Over Day Center 50 Mile Challenge Ride on June 16th!
