Sunday Spin - 26th June

With sincere apologies to Dave (1st on left - just) a pose on the green before setting off on an anticlockwise turn round the Cottenham-Haddenham loop. Met a few Tour de Fens riders on the first half of the loop - they were between a third and a half way round their 120 miles or so! (read more...)

Second half of our loop was beginning to get quite hot and the thrips were out in force making it a bit itchy from time to time. The 8 oclock starters managed a creditable 44m in a bit under three hours rolling time and the 9:30 starters around 18 miles in a lot less than three hours but most of you (you know who you are) were a long way in front of me so I have no idea how quick you did it!

Well, it was David who most doubted your ability to post the photo from your iPhone! Shame on us for not knowing until too late that the Tour de Fens was on! Especially with Cottenham one of just three food points. Next year ... I like their description of 77 miles as "Short"! But they have a gold, silver and bronze medal structure ... that's incentive enough for me! http://www.kilotogo.com/index.php?option=event_detail&event_id=25 http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/74172/Wiggle-Flatout-in-the-Fens#gmap_container

I did the 'short' fens route, a friend who had signed up for it bailed out at the last minute so I took his place. Think I saw Kev riding the other way up the Earith Road out of Willingham just before 9am. I was in the back of a group doing a nice bit of wheel sucking. Anyone fancy the Rutland one in September http://www.kilotogo.com/index.php?option=event_detail&event_id=27 They seem to be very well organized events

Oops, looks like we've got a spammer. Unless Paul has started up a sideline in watch sales
