Willingham Wheels ‘Sofa to 50k’

British Cycling have come up with an idea to encourage you to dig your bike out of the shed and get riding! It is ideal for the complete cycling novice who is looking to start cycling for health, fitness, recreation, commuting or perhaps to tackle a challenge or charity ride.

Willingham Wheels will be starting the 8-week training plan on Tuesday 10th April. Rides will usually be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and time commitment ranges from a minimum of 1 hour 30 minutes to a maximum of 6 hours 30 minutes per week.

Gran Fondo ToC 4th June 2017

Yep, more of the same. Left to right Noel, Les, Paul, Phil (Ringer), Robin, Graham, Ken.

Good times achieved - and had - by all. Dom (not pictured) also rode and he and Phil did the 80 miles in roughly 3.5 hours. Robin beat 4 hours in the 60 to 64 category. The rest of us all did better than expected in the Get Round category.

Great pasta on site beforehand seemed to do the trick,

Some of us have already registered for 2018.

Tow Law and Tynedale Beer Festival 16th-17th June 2017

Photo left to right: Graham, Robin, Kev, Paul, Dom, Nigel, Noel, Les

A good day out was had by all. Dom got three punctures, Robin just missed his record time, Noel beat the 5 hour mark. The rest of us were just pleased to get round. 84 miles with burning sunshine and a tough NE wind. Strange combination, made for a sapping second half of the circuit.

Fen Edge Social Ride for Bike Week

It being Bike Week 11 - 19 June (http://www.bikeweek.org.uk/), we thought we
Wheelers and FenEdgers should arrange a bit of a posse to head out West
for some chow and cha. Large extended families welcome, cowboy attire optional.
The possibilities are:
the Floods Tavern (lovely garden) or the Dolphin, both in St. Ives.

Assembly point: Willingham Green, 11 a.m. Sunday 12th June

or at the Guided Busway, Longstanton, at 11.10-ish.

Robin Recommends Lincoln Sportive
